Get Paid to Shop Online With These Cashback Sites

I am fully on board with the online shopping trend...to a fault. I buy everything online: household goods, dog treats, workout gear, birthday gifts, wardrobe staples, and much, much more. Our recycling bin is consistently bursting with cardboard boxes. But there's a good reason for it! With an ecosystem of info at your fingertips, it is so much easier to compare prices, find deals and save money online than it is in-store. If you're like me and saving money excites and energizes you, then you have to know about these cashback apps. Because who doesn't want to get paid to shop online?

How to Get Paid to Shop Online

First, you need to know about cashback websites. These gems make it so easy to get paid to shop online because they partner with all kinds of retailers to offer cashback for the online purchases you make. And they couldn't be easier to use.

Let's say you're buying a sweater at Nordstrom. Instead of navigating straight to the Nordstrom website, you will first visit a cashback site. Next, type in "Nordstrom," click on the logo, and the cashback site will automatically route you to Nordstrom's site. Then, shop like normal! Once you've made your purchase, you'll receive a check in the mail within a few weeks. How easy is that?

The Best Cashback Sites

There are several cashback websites out there, but I've found that a handful are better than the rest. They offer broad retail partnerships, more lucrative cashback opportunities, and easy user interfaces. Here are the best cashback apps:

1. Ebates

Ebates is one of the cashback sites I use most because it features my favorite retailers, even down to my travel booking site. Plus, when you sign up for an Ebates account, you'll automatically earn $10.

Ebates will pay you every quarter via check or PayPal for the cash you've racked up. You can also redeem your cash for gift cards for a bonus (up to 15%). Last month, I opted for a CB2 gift card and earned 8% more than my cash-back value was worth. Home decor on a budget, anyone?

2. Mr. Rebates

Mr. Rebates partners with over 2,500 stores and operates similarly to Ebates. But there is one major difference between the two. Ebates will only pay you quarterly. Mr. Rebates, on the other hand, will send a check whenever you request it, as long as you have a balance of $10 or more.

When deciding between Ebates vs. Mr. Rebates, first check which app is offering a higher return for your store of choice. If Mr. Rebates is offering 12% back and Ebates is offering 8%, then you have an easy decision!

3. Coupon Cactus

Coupon Cactus partners with over 4,000 retailers to offer cash back for its users. That's a much broader selection of stores than most of the other cashback sites offer. Similar to Ebates, Coupon Cactus will pay you quarterly via check or PayPal.

Coupon Cactus claims the highest cashback rates of all the apps, but I would still double-check them against Ebates and Mr. Rebates before you decide which one to use.

4. Active Junky

With the athleisure trend sweeping our wardrobes these days, Active Junky is a cashback app I have been using more and more. Why? Because instead of broadly partnering with thousands of stores, it totally dominates the athletic gear niche. And you automatically get $10 just for signing up.

If you are buying apparel or equipment for hiking, biking, running, camping, skiing, swimming, or you just want a new pair of yoga pants, Active Junky is your first stop. This cashback app partners with stores like Nike, Under Armour, Athleta, Cabela's, Moosejaw, Marmot, New Balance, Eastbay, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc. The list goes on to include over 600 more athletic outposts.

How Much Can You Get Paid to Shop Online?

Whether you're shopping for household essentials, grocery staples, or a new trendy piece, why not get rewarded for it? These cashback sites negotiate earning rates with their retail partners, and you'll often see offers for 4-20% back at department stores, boutiques, big-box retailers, and even travel booking sites. All of these cashback sites offer promotions all the time, so save them to your favorites and check back regularly.

The Bottom Line

As a major homebody, in-store shopping has never been my thing. And now, cashback apps offer even more incentive to buy online. Through connecting savvy shoppers to the best brands, cashback sites offer a hassle-free way to get paid and save money on your everyday purchases.
